Hours

My hours, as they are

The phone, the jobs and the paperwork all run on these hours. I am not here outside them.

  • Monday – Thursday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Jobs in progress. I answer the phone when I am not on a ladder, and return the call when I am.

  • Friday, 7:00 am – 12:00 pm

    Estimates, paperwork and jobs finishing.

  • Saturday and Sunday

    Closed.

  • Evenings and holidays

Closed. No emergency work. A message left then waits for the next working day.

If it can't wait for morning

Who to call tonight

For fire or smoke, call 911 and leave the house. If it is safe to reach, turn off the breaker. I'm not the right call at night; these are.

  • A burning smell, sparks, or a hot, scorched panel or outlet

Leave the area, call 911 for fire, and call an emergency electrician.

  • Water near wiring

Stay clear. If it is safe to reach, turn off the breaker, and call an emergency electrician.

  • A shock from a switch or an outlet

Stop using it. Call an emergency electrician.

  • An outage or a line down

Call your power company, and stay well away from the line.

Booking by season

Booking by season, through the year

I don't keep a waiting list. Tell me the season you want and I will offer dates inside it.

  • Dec – Feb

    Winter

Work inside, while the walls can be opened and you are home: rewiring, circuits for a heat pump or an induction range, light for the dark afternoons.

  • Mar – May

    Spring

Panel and service upgrades, with the inspection booked ahead. Mud season keeps outdoor trenching off the calendar until the ground is firm.

  • Jun – Aug

    Summer

Outdoor work: exterior lights, outlets, a feeder to a garage or barn, and car-charger circuits. Dry ground and long days.

  • Sep – Nov

    Fall

Finishing before the heating season: smoke and CO alarms, a panel check, the jobs you meant to book in July.

About hours and seasons

Do you do emergency work?

No. I don't do emergency work, evenings, weekends or holidays. For fire or smoke, call 911. For a burning smell, sparks, a hot or scorched panel or outlet, water near wiring or a shock, leave the area; if it is safe to reach, turn off the breaker, then call an emergency electrician. For an outage or a line down, call your power company.

Why don't you do emergency work?

I work alone. Wiring a panel at two in the morning, tired, with no one to check the work, is not careful work. I would rather tell you now who to call than say yes and do a worse job.

What if something goes wrong after you leave?

Call me on the next working morning and I will look at it. If it is a fire, smoke or burning smell, call 911 first.

How do I book?

Pick the season you want on the contact form, or call in working hours. I will offer dates inside that season and put them in writing with the estimate.
